Dr Mike Carter Director
Dr. Mike Carter is a Director at Footdown, he has extensive experience at senior management level in the private and public sectors. Mike is a specialist in the leadership of organisational change and holds a doctorate from the University of Bath. For 10 years he was the managing director of Stratagem Consulting and is the former Director of Executive Development, the Centre for Leadership Studies, University of Exeter Business School.
Mike has consulted in most developed countries of the world for organisations that have included: ING Bank, The Foreign & Commonwealth Office, the NHS, EMI Music, Universal Music & Gillette. For 3 years he led a project with Apple Corps (The Beatles) and Cirque du Soleil in London, Montreal and Las Vegas assisting these creative companies to collaborate in developing The Beatles Love Show – now the most successful show in Vegas.
Working with organisations Mike helps them adapt to change; with Boards he helps develop strategy; and with individuals he provides executive coaching. Mike has also chaired a number of conference events such as the National Renal Conference for the NHS. Appointed a Fellow of the University of Bath in 2005 and the University of Exeter in 2009 he has taught on numerous MBA and executive development programmes in the areas of leadership and organisational change. In 2014, Mike and co-authors from the universities of Bath and Exeter won the international ‘Paper of the year award’ in Human Relations for their research publication: Organizing to Counter Terrorism: Sensemaking amidst dynamic complexity.
Qualifications: Ph.D; appointed Fellow of University of Bath 2005; appointed Fellow of University of Exeter 2009
