Making the information persistent

In developing Footdown Insight we realised at an early stage that we needed a tool to make the information gleaned from using Insight persistent, to manage goals and accountability for their completion and to provide board level reports on the critical success factors for the organisation.  We chose Goalscape which is aligned very closely with our requirements.

Goalscape is a user-friendly tool for recording and prioritising goals and monitoring progress against these.  It has a very innovative user interface to provide a visual representation of goals and their priorities and relationships.  It shows the progress achieved on each goal and highlights goals with potential issues to be addressed.  Examples of the latter are time or cost overruns or unsatisfied dependencies.

Role of Goalscape in Footdown Insight

Goalscape is marketed as a tool to help individuals, particularly athletes, plan and monitor their performance.  In Footdown we see Goalscape in that role in the context of Personal Insight but we also see it as a key tool to support Executive Insight, especially in the Information & Accountability and Team & Talent categories.

Working with Goalscape, Footdown added two new features to enhance the usage of and the experience of working with the tool – these are the flash reports that record individual scores for the dimensions of self, family and friends, colleagues and organisation and the traffic light system for highlighting status of goals in a eye-catching way.  These two features are only available in the Footdown version of Goalscape.
