The Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) have recently commissioned a report into what employers look for in their leaders. One of the more surprising findings was feeling “that there is no substitute for failure when it comes to identifying and developing great leaders”. A quarter of employers in the report seek leaders who “have experienced failure and bounced back from difficult challenges”.
I am sure this will ring true with a lot of us – I have certainly learned a lot about myself and my style when things haven’t gone to plan!
